Red Tractor Health Planning MyhealthyherdNew and Revised Standards

In October 2017 there was a major review of the Dairy Red Tractor standards

To avoid non-compliance with your health plan the key areas to focus on are:

  • Ensuring a colostrum policy is in place for calves
  • A credible review of farm records with due discussion of BVD and Johne’s control
  • A recommendation that waste milk is not fed to calves
  • A Biosecurity plan needs to be in place which is reviewed annually
  • A collation of medicine use with particular emphasis on antibiotic use and a recommendations that CIA antibiotics are not defined for first line use.
  • Improved management of carcase management

We are currently updating the Myhealthyherd Health Planner in line with the revised standards.

N.B. In addition to these standards individual processors may have additional standards such as SDCT, Johne’s control plans etc.

The Silver Lining!

The new standards provide you with real opportunities to engage with your clients and to provide further training and guidance to farmers on optimal medicine use, risk management, disease control and much more.

Have a look at the updated standards on Red Tractor’s website:
