As always, myhealthyherd will be attending BCVA’s annual Congress – which returns to Southport this year, from 15th – 17th October. We are hosting both a workshop and a seminar at this year’s conference. You can download the full programme of events here, but see below for further details and to reserve your place at the workshop!

BCVA also offers a great opportunity for us to catch up with our myhealthyherd members, and prospective members, to discuss how the program is working for their practice and what they might be able to do differently to maximise potential and drive practice income.

So, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to come over for a chat over a cup of coffee!

WORKSHOP, Hereford Room, 9am, Friday 16th October

“Implementing a successful cattle infectious disease program for your practice”

In 2012, the Park Veterinary Group in Leicester decided to take a pro-active approach to BVD control with the aim of improving health and fertility. From a standing start, they now monitor 70 herds for BVD, 59 of which are under protection and BVD free.Learn how they have developed a workable program for both their farmers and the practice, using tools such as myhealthyherd, and through the creation of a new “Infectious Disease Practice Champion” role in the vet team.

Spaces for this workshop are limited – reserve your place now!

SEMINAR, Suffolk Room, 9.30am, Saturday 17th October

“What we can learn from 20 years of practice-based benchmarking”

Pre-planned farm visits are inherently more profitable than ad hoc clinical work and a proactive approach to health, based on benchmarking and monitoring, can help develop and expand this type of work to become the mainstay of the practice service.

The investment per farm becomes a profit opportunity for both thefarmer and the practice as fertility improves and additional benefits include increased motivation and staff retention.

Hear how one practice has evolved its fertility benchmarking program over the last 20 years to provide a route to fee-based consultancy and chargeable advice and has since expanded this service-offering to cover mastitis and infectious disease.
